So, how can you have a Twilight Princess file, multiple homebrews on your SD Card, and a seperate Wii menu channel for homebrew? Can't be done, right?
Wrong!
The purpose of this guide will be to install a Homebrew channel on your
Wii menu so you don't need to boot Twilight Princess in order to access
your homebrew.
WARNING: I AM NOT RESPONSIBLE FOR ANYTHING YOU DO TO YOUR WII!! USE AT YOUR OWN RISK!!!
That out of the way, this is what you'll need:
1 Wii (obviously)
1 SD card (and a way to connect it to your computer)
1 copy of Zelda Twilight Princess
1 Gamecube controller (for multibrew launcher)
+ neccessary install files. For the purpose of this guide, I've uploaded
all of the neccessary files to this link:
http://www.sendspace.com/file/kjw2bw
Step 1: Twilight Hack
This step is neccessary in order to install the Homebrew channel on your
Wii menu. This is not neccessary afterwards, and is completly temporary.
1: Considering you've downloaded my file linked above, open the Step 1
folder and read through the .txt file in that folder. It will help tell
you what file will work with your version of Twilight Princess. Once
you know what file will work on your Wii, rename it to data.bin
(Quick Note: In order to back up data, insert your SD Card into the Wii,
go to your Zelda save game file on your Wii System Memory and click it.
Once you hit copy, it will copy over to the SD Card you inserted)
2: This might be a good time to back up your Twilight Princess save data
if you intend to keep it. In fact, it's MUCH better if you do so. The
savedata will go into the X:/private/wii/title/RZDE folder. If you don't
have any data you want to save, create the X:/private/wii/title/RZDE folder
on your SD Card. Now, if you backed up your RZDE folder, rename it to
something like RZDEBackup so you don't get confused.
At this step, you should have 2 folders in your X:/private/wii/title
folder: RZDEBackup (Savedata) and RZDE (used for Twilight Hack)
(Quick note 2: Depending on your region, the RZDE folder may not work for you. For the North American region, the RZDE folder is likely to work. However, the folder should be named to whatever rzdx.bin you used. For example, if you need the rzdj0.bin file, your new folder will be named RZDJ instead of RZDE. For the rest of this tutorial, I'll be using the RZDE folder for reference)
3. Remember the file you renamed data.bin? Well, copy that to the RZDE
folder you made. Your memory stick is now ready for the Twilight Hack!
4 Now, insert the SD Card into the Wii. Now go to your Wii options and
navigate your Wii's system memory. In the top right corner, hit SD Card.
If you followed steps correctly, there should be an icon on your SD card
called "Homebrew Loader" or something along those lines. Now click your
Wii memory in the top right, and delete your previous Zelda data (if
applicable). If you backed it up in step 2, it is in the RZDEBackup folder
on your memory stick. Now go to the SD Card, and click on the loader.
When prompted, copy it to the Wii system memory.
You've now successfully installed the Twilight Hack!
5 (Optional but recommened): Test out the Twilight Hack! Put in your game
disc and load up a game of Zelda as usual. There is only 1 file on the file
select screen, so hit that one. When the file loads up, go speak to the
man in front of you. If all goes well, the game should crash and some code
appear on the screen. If so, all is successful! If not, then review your
steps.
Step 2: Homebrew Channel
This is a simple, yet very crucial step. This step will place a channel
on your Wii system menu to launch homebrew! Why is this important? Well,
if you want convienience, and to keep a Twilight Princess save file, then
this is for you!
1. This is a very simple process! Take your SD Card, and plug it into
your computer.
2. Open the "Step 2 Homebrew Channel" folder in the package you downloaded.
3. Take the boot.elf from this folder and copy it to the root of your SD
Card. Now you're pretty much done!
4. Boot up Zelda and talk to the guy again. This time, a new line of code
will appear. Wait for the code to completly load, then read the disclaimer.
Once finsihed, press the "Reset" button (press, don't hold) on the front
of your Wii console. After a quick install, your Wii will automatically
restart. Press A, and notice a new channel in your Wii Menu. It's all
black, but if you let your cursor hover over it, it shows up as the
"Homebrew Channel". SUCESS! However, don't access it yet. We still have
one more crucial thing to do!
Step 3: MultiBrew Loader
So now you have the Homebrew Channel up and running, which is great. The
problem however is that this channel can only launch one homebrew at a time.
If you want multiple homebrew, you have to rename and replace files on
your SD card via your computer. That's not very convienient is it?
Fortunatly, we have the Multibrew loader that when launched, will bring
up a nice interface which allows you to launch ANY homebrew on your
SD Card. Sweet huh?
1. Open the "Step 3 MultiBrew Loader" folder from the package you
downloaded earlier. Of course, plug in your SD Card
2. Copy both files (boot.elf + Homebrew folder) to your SD Card's root,
rewriting the boot.ef used for the Homebrew Channel.
3. And you're done! Tutê Finito! Whenever you launch the HomeBrew Channel,
you will be presented with a nice user interface that is similar to the Wii
menu's interface. For information on adding homebrew apps, read the Adding
Homebrew file in the "Step 3" folder.
Step 3.5: Restoring your Twilight Princess data
Huh? We're not finished?
No, we are, but for those who had Twilight Princess data that they saved
earlier, this is a quick rundown of how to restore it to as it was before
we installed the Twilight Hack.
1: Insert your SD Card into the computer again. Navigate to your
X:/private/wii/title/ folder. Here you are presented with the folders we
created earlier for the Twilight Hack: RZDE, and RZDEBackup
2: Delete the RZDE folder. We won't be needing it anymore. Now you can
rename your RZDEBackup folder to simply RZDE
3: Now plug the SD Card into your Wii. Go to Wii options, Data Management,
and then into your Wii System Memory. Now see the WiiBrew loader saved on
your Wii memory? It's safe to delete that, so go ahead and do so. Now go
to your SD card (top right corner) and click on your Zelda file which will
appear in the first block. Click it, hit copy, and it will copy right back
onto the Wii System Memory. You can then delete it from the SD Card.
And that's it! You can now run Homebrew from your Wii Menu, and have a perfectly
good Zelda file at the same time!
Thanks for reading! Good Luck!

Nice tut
, tbh I was holding off with the homebrew channel until Team Twiizers release their final version.
Well, this seems very stable and works well with Mutlibrew, even if it takes a minute or so to load (30 seconds tops)

nice tutorial. So you basically only need the zelda game once right?
edit: question about twilight hack, if you don't install homebrew channel how do u play the homebrews, i mean do u play it of the sd card or do u copy it somehow from the sd card to ur wii?

Yup. Technically, you can rent Twilight Princess, install all of this in under 30 minutes, and be done with it.
If you don't install the HomeBrew Channel, you need to play Homebrew through Twilight Princess. As in booting it up and running Homebrew by talking to the guy. And you can't store Homebrew on the Wii system Memory yet. That's in dvelopment, but not remotly close to a release.
The Homebrew Channel technically IS the Twilight Hack, just built into the Wii Menu. So, it's the Twilight Hack without Twilight, if that makes sense ![]()

^^ oh thanks for the explanation, but isn't it very unstable? So by this way can homebrew be installed IN the wii?
Offline
No. It's actually VERY stable! In the 2 weeks or so I've been using it, it hasn't even crashed! It's a safe as an "official release" to me!
And you can only load Homebrew off of the SD card. Not on the Wii System Memory. You don't have an SD card, you can't run Homebrew, or install this. You're only limited by the size of the SD card

Offline
have u use this with the VC hack? does it work nicely?
Offline
is there a way to delete this after a while?
Offline
Might try this later on.
Is they any way to mess up my Wii with this? Just wanna know before i attemt it

Offline
Nope. All it does is write a channel to the Wii memory. If something goes wrong, it will just show up as corrupted data on the Wii, and you can delete the channel and choose whether to try again or not.
But following these instructions, I got it to work perfectly on 3 Wii's so far (including my own)

Offline
i did it and it works great! i just wanna be able to delete it in the future so i can get the new one that will come out
Offline
You can. At any time. Just go to the Wii Options (bottom left corner of the main menu) then Data Management, Channels... somewhere around there. It's simply a channel you can delete, just like any official Nintendo channel

Offline
I did all the steps but the twilight hack doesn't show up on my sd card...
Edit - I had to rename my folder to RDZP ..
Btw ... Would a wireless gamecube pad work

RDZP?... I haven't heard of that. I guess it makes sense if you're region isn't US...
A wireless GC controller will work as long as the reciever is in the Controller slot at the top of the Wii.

I was asked a question at work and I don't have an answer so maybe one of you can answer it.
if you have a backup of Twilight Princess and don't have the code number; if you use the wrong .bin file in save data will it hurt anything or just not launch?
I told him I would bring him my game because it is orig. and will deff. work, but I am curious about using backup copy.
Offline
You have a backup copy of TP (Wii is modchipped I'm assuming) on disc?
Nothing will happen. If you choose the wrong file, it just won't load properly when you click on it under the Zelda menu. When you launch Zelda, it should say "Twilight Hack" for the file name if you installed everything correctly. In anything else appears, you probably have the wrong file. Just rename the data.bin to the next RZDx and try again
EDIT: Would a video tutorial help? I'm thinking of making one because it's easier for people to see what's going on.
