Case Room/Available Power

I'm looking at getting the PulseVU mod and one of the other Wii mod chips for playing backups/imports etc. when i install the chips tho i want to put switches on their power leads to be able to control the chips, I want to be able to turn off PulseVU when i see fit (without using the rest button) and for the other chip my plan was to do the same to be able to completely turn the chip off or in the case of the cyclowiz (if i got that one) use the switch to toggle the update mode. However my dilema was that i would rather not have to cut holes in my case and have ugly switches sticking out of the side or rear, etc. So i started looking up the possibility of getting some sort of remote controlled IR or RF relay switch system. I found this 2 channel UHF Relay switch http://www.quasarelectronics.com/3082.htm which should get the job done. But seeing as im still waiting on my triwing screwdriver to crack open my wii and take a look inside i still don't know exactly how much space is available inside the case. Does anyone think that there would be enough space to fit a board like that in the wii case somewhere? And does anyone know if there would be a spot on the motherboard that i could draw 12V DC from to power the board? I know the PulseVU references a spot where it draws 3.3V (or something close to that) from the board. any feedback on whether this would be plausible to fit inside the wii and if i could find enough power to run it would be awesome, also im assuming the RF signals would be able to make it to the receiver inside the wii.

Re: Case Room/Available Power

I have opened my wii and don't think you will be able to fit this inside.

Nice idea though, and I may be wrong anyway my memory is a bit shit.

edit> about the power question I haven't got a clue sorry.

Re: Case Room/Available Power

you may have to hold out on the pulseVU mod until homebrew is availale maybe then an app can be written to do the pulse mod without extra hardware

Re: Case Room/Available Power

Yea the case is on there pretty snug...but all in all a good idea but id rather go with the switch, tried and true.
