DS Flash Cards and Homebrew

-----FLASH CARDS-----
-M3 Simply | Slot 1 card/microSD (GENERATION 2)
This one is very reliable and comes with a microSD reader. As usual with most packaging, the prepackaged software is out of date, so you may want to check the homepage for the latest firmware. Pretty much fully skinable (if you call 3 backgrounds a skin)
-M3 Adapter | Slot 2 card with passme/SD standard size
Based off of what my friend has seen, this one has stood the test of time. However, as it loads from slot 2 (GBA slot), the compatibility is severely low. Everything for the DS requires patching. However, this is one device that can still load .gba homebrew/games.
-R4 | Slot 1 card/microSD
This one is pretty much like the M3, same factory, same layout, almost the same firmware (etc.), but with a different brand name. Haven't heard how reliable this is though. Supports the M3 skins.
-DS-X Slot 1/internal memory
This card has an internal flash memory of about 512mb to 2gb. Also, it is rumored that the compatibility is extremely high with everything, so the lack of exchangeable memory is made up with compatibility.
-Supercard | Slot 1 & Slot 2
I am not familiar with this brand, but I don't hear too many people saying good things about it. Although (as mentioned below), some people find the slot 2 device to be much more useable.

-----HOMEBREW-----
-DSOrganize
PDA/multifunctionality software for the DS
-OKIWI web browser
Web browser for the DS (although DSO's web browser works just fine, and is not in alpha)
-DSMouse
A mouse adapter that sends wifi signals to your PC, allowing you to use your DS as a PC touch-pad (great for things like photoshop I would assume).

Other homebrew databases:
-DS Scene
-NDS HB

Something that you may want to know about is the DLDI patching. DLDI is basically a way for people to make homebrew compatible for ALL cards. This way everyone can get homebrew, and expect it to generally work on their card. All you have to do is find a patcher and a DLDI file for your specific card (R4 and M3 have the same DLDI file). Load the DLDI into your patcher, select your homebrew, and click patch (depending on the user-friendliness of the GUI in the patching program). So if you pop DSOrganize in your M3 simply, and it returns with the "fat not supported" message, you most likely haven't patched it. Also, some homebrew files don't have DLDI support and will not work with any card but the one they were built upon.

I would name some sites, but I *cough*don't support pirating*cough*.

Hope this helps some people get started.

Re: DS Flash Cards and Homebrew

well, supercard has slot 1, and i'm more familiar with the M3's. Plus, theres a link to the website on there, so its "technically" mentioned.

Re: DS Flash Cards and Homebrew

Suppose so.

The slot 2 version is immensely more popular than the slot one supercard, and is widely used due to 1 its cheapness and 2 it's compatibility (DS not GBA smile )
