I heard it doesn't update, therefore if Nintendo updates the system it will become a useless chip, I would just wait.

And there is no homebrew.. until there is homebrew the mod chip is moot.. and I agree about the updates over the net.. I think its too soon to start soldering chips in my Wii!

As for updates over the net it doesn't bother me as cba hook it up to net, and as for homebrew..meh I'd rather play a wii or gc *backup* instead.

This is what they said about the psp to and now its one of the most systems with homebrew on it....

Depends , if you have a good background in C++ like me (6 months) then all you have to learn is the graphics libary that the wii uses or just the a multiplatform graphics libary, the only realy realy realy hard part is the controls, very math based 
.
