Is your Wii Modchip Capable?

Before you go out and buy your Wiikey make sure your Wii Board is moddable!
This Mini Guide will help you figure this out!

Hardware

Find out what your hardware most likely is by typing in your serial number:  Here
GC2-DMSMODDABLE
GC2R-D2AMODDABLE
GC2-D2BMODDABLE
GC2-D2CONLY MODDABLE WITH D2CKEY (**HARD TO INSTALL**) AND Argon Wii

**D2CKEY - Requires 30 solder points, ONLY DO THIS IF YOUR A SOLDER PRO.
**Argon Wii - Requires 13 solder points MODERATELY HARD.

Important Note - Thanks to matsacc
On earlier models of Wii you could solder to the points on the board marked by the round circles but to combat mod chips Nintendo then cut the legs off the chip that these points go to.
The only way around this is to dremmel some of the chip away to expose the traces and solder to them, making the process a whole lot harder and beyond inexperienced modders.

Don't forget to mention about some models, not the very earliest ones though, needing the chip to be dremmeled because the drive pins may be cut, this requires a much harder install.

A link to this page http://nintendo-scene.com/wiitracker/search.php would be useful and is the first place people with a new wii should visit.

Good work, this shall help a few people out.

I'm from Australia, so the best site to get your chips or even get someone to chip your Wii for you is www.ozmodchips.com

Re: Is your Wii Modchip Capable?

lol sorry mate I was tired, the info about the pins being cut is still relevant though as to me it's the difference between being able to mod your own wii with no previous experience and not being able to.

It's to do with the points you have to solder to, using this pic as illustration

Try the ones in the D2C area,  I heard Wasabi was good.  I have to update the thread.

Re: Is your Wii Modchip Capable?

n my capacity of the candidate for the post of the secretary general it would be improper to comment on any plastic surgery
of the decisions of the Ministers or their deputies and especially to give them advice on the procedure to follow. However having a 15 year-long personal experience with the Council of Europe, if I may, beyond this add, that I fully share the spirit and the targets of the Juncker-report on how to confirm the Council of Europe’s role in order laser hair removal to become a more effective partner in building Europe. I personally particularly welcomed his recommendation on the required profile of the future candidates for the post of the Secretary General, who should be „leading political figures, whose past work for democratic security has already given them a high and positive profile†. Apparently Prime Minister Juncker’s recommendations – and the subsequent ministerial decision on their implementation – have had a considerable positive effect: I have to compete with excellent candidates who deserve all my laser eye surgery personal and professional respect, and I feel really honoured to be a part of this contest. I also believe that the Ministers and their deputies are fully entitled to form an opinion on the candidates.
