Before you go out and buy your Wiikey make sure your Wii Board is moddable!
This Mini Guide will help you figure this out!
Hardware
Find out what your hardware most likely is by typing in your serial number: Here
GC2-DMS – MODDABLE
GC2R-D2A – MODDABLE
GC2-D2B – MODDABLE
GC2-D2C – ONLY MODDABLE WITH D2CKEY (**HARD TO INSTALL**) AND Argon Wii
**D2CKEY - Requires 30 solder points, ONLY DO THIS IF YOUR A SOLDER PRO.
**Argon Wii - Requires 13 solder points MODERATELY HARD.
Important Note - Thanks to matsacc
On earlier models of Wii you could solder to the points on the board marked by the round circles but to combat mod chips Nintendo then cut the legs off the chip that these points go to.
The only way around this is to dremmel some of the chip away to expose the traces and solder to them, making the process a whole lot harder and beyond inexperienced modders.
LOOK AT THIS DIAGRAM! http://forums.maxconsole.net/showthread … und+points

Please Correct me if I'm wrong.

Thanks a lot, now people won't have to do research like me. Just thought I could help out.

Don't forget to mention about some models, not the very earliest ones though, needing the chip to be dremmeled because the drive pins may be cut, this requires a much harder install.
A link to this page http://nintendo-scene.com/wiitracker/search.php would be useful and is the first place people with a new wii should visit.
Good work, this shall help a few people out.
I'm from Australia, so the best site to get your chips or even get someone to chip your Wii for you is www.ozmodchips.com

lol sorry mate I was tired, the info about the pins being cut is still relevant though as to me it's the difference between being able to mod your own wii with no previous experience and not being able to.

I will add that once you give me info on that haha. i have no clue what the pins do since i've never modded a wii. Can you enlighten me about it? Thanks.

It's to do with the points you have to solder to, using this pic as illustration
