I got this message today from one of our site visitors.. maybe some of you have some insight?
I just bought a Wii last week end, it as already been modified with a modchip (I don’t actually know which one it is), but the problem is that my Wii is the Japanese version so I have all my menus in Japanese, I was wandering if there was any modchip or piece of software that can change the operating system to the English one?
I am quite struggling with the Japanese menus and the weather, news and shop channels are all in Japanese as well!!!!! I would like to be able to use the pretty cool features the Wii has to offer.
Please help me… Is there anything already available or is there any plan to do it in the near future?

dunna why this is on the homepage but here we go actually how come nobody else is able to help this guy why do you need special software just go to the wii menu which is the little circle in the bottom left corner of the home screen(on uk wiis this says Wii but i’ve never seen a jap one) then the right hand icon is the Wii settings(has a picture of a spanner on it.) once your in theat menu you must go to page 3 of the menu then the top selection is language select that to change to english then you should have the english language once you’ve done that you should see that the next item down in that menu is country then select your location in that menu and your good to go all english. (or whatever language you want to select)

The japanese consoles access the japanese servers, so for things like the shop and weather channels, changing the menu languages shouldn’t do much good. Changing the region would also be pointless, as you would not be able to play japanese games anymore unless there was a way to set the console to all region. If you want to be able to read things on a japanese wii, it’s probably best to learn how to read japanese.
