Homebrew Goodness for the Wii
August 22nd, 2007 - One of the Nintendo Wii’s few criticisms is it’s inability to play DVD movie disks. Since development there has been speculation Nintendo would enable DVD playback in future released consoles, or possibly through a firmware update downloadable from the Wii Shop Channel. Fortunately Wii owners who have modchips that support Dual Layer DVDs can start enjoying watching their DVDs on their consoles.
Instructions:
Burn with clone CD, Boot in modded wii with homebrew based
mod programmed with YOASM 1.8 (I used a wii-boss).
When menu comes up then the hit “z” to unmount, change disc to DVD movie and hit “start” to play.

Sony fanboys… Wii is made for GAMING, it plays GAMES not DVD… Gamecube games work on it, PS3 blows it can’t load it’s whole back catalog, the base version sucks even more, if I had 600 quid to spend on a PS3 & 4 games I’d buy a Wii instead… & a PC…

OK I just just searched the price of the blu-ray, the CHEAPEST I SEEN WAS $290.00 W/ $50 FOR SHIPPING SO A WHOPPING $340 (like $140 more than a wii) that is just the internal drive for a pc, just the drive (just a blu-ray cd-rom for the PC) so yes of course the ps3 will cost more. nintendo knows a whole shit load are extremely stupid! as far as games go…. I want to save humanity from aliens like resistance fall of man, steal cars and have a shoot out with the police like GTA!! not jump on some stupid assed goombas like mario!

I think all the systems have a little going for them.
The Ps3 is great but hasn’t come into its own yet for lack of many good games(GTA4). The 360 has plenty of games, but has the whole overheating issue, though I’ve been through this and the return experience was really prompt. And the Wii is cheap and fun for people who normally wouldn’t play games because they aren’t into video games.
It was more than an overheating issue with 360’s. I went through-no bullshxt-10 xbox360’s and 5 repairs through Microbitch service and then I got an Elite. It works G-R-E-A-T! And GTA4 is going to be on both PS3 and 360 and the only thing Wii and PS3 are missing are those addictive achievements. I like what has been done with the Wii and I think this is plenty good for hacks. Just keep this same stuff but always make updates, as things do get old fast…But suprises are nice. I would love to see something done with more Mii customizations! Why hasn’t that already been done? It’s hard for me to make a Mii that looks like me, it’s close, but there should be a way to make a Mii custom pack or something. I don’t know…
Just buy a PS3 and wait for Home. Then you will have all the customization you can ever want.

I own the psp, ds, ps3, wii, and many other gaming formats.
All of these systems are great. Here’s a word of advise go buy every system. My next is the x360. Homebrew is the only thing that is making the psp worthy(because you are all nothing but thiefs)

No, but seriously, I’ve had them all, don’t have ps3 anymore, probably the first person to trade in at EB Games…They all have their perks, but next to Dreamcast, PSP is every system up until ps2. Then you have original Xbox and 360, so all games are accessible. Then the ps3 kicks out ps2, psp kicks out nes,snes,gba,sega,ps1. Wii is GC and Wii, if you have a psp, downloading on wii isn’t worth it. So, if you own Wii, Ps3, Psp, 360, DS, and Dreamcast, you have it all. Oh and for die hard fans, old school xbox1.
