It was announced on Tuesday during a press conference that GameSpy(owned by IGN)Â and Nintendo would partner up to bring us Wii online multiplayer. Nintendo And GameSpy are not new to each other, the Nintendo Wi-Fi connection for your DS is “Powered by GameSpy.”
Although the Friend Codes conundrum is a hinderance, GameSpy has hinted at doing away with it when they announced “friend rosters, advanced matchmaking capabilities and comprehensive rankings data.” This is exciting for Wii owners, to say the least, as I know that CoD3 would be much more fun if it had online multiplayer.
However, there is a catch. The first [announced] game that will be able to use this feature will be Pokemon Battle Revolution, which is scheduled for release on June 25. No word as to whether online multiplayer will be free or not, either.

iono dis is going to be wierd, specially wid dat annoying assed friend code shit, cause its gonna be weird connecting to the internet and playing wid da 2 friends who sumhow managed to copy down ur code
The way Pokemon is going to be online is, that there is gonna be like this room type thing for battles and trades and maybe a chat room thing. Its probly going to be the same exact way as the DS versions. and same way that goes on with the other games that will be online
Haha maybe they have the same thing just like the n64 version of pokemon stadium and the transfer pak. This could be the first game with wii and ds communications.
