IMPORTANT WII UPDATE FOR ALL CUSTOMERS
Please DO NOT update your consoles firmware to version 3.1e online, or update from the following games:
• Wii Sports (newer version with modification disclaimer on the reverse)
• Legend of Zelda
• Super Mario Galaxy
This update will make your Wii not play ANY games at all.
We suggest Customers DO NOT complete ANY updates until we have more information.

Wow nintendo was the first company to screw up an update. Hmmp i thought it would of been microsoft but no, it was nintendo.(i sence something from the evil side)

Don’t worry. If u have a legit Wii, it will not render your wii uselss. you are safe. i already did this update personally and mine works fine.
I updated to 3.1e via system update and my wii is wiikeyed and still plays everything, only thing that does not work is SMG.
Richard, have you applied the WiiKey 1.9g firmware update? This apparently fixes the problem with NTSC versions of SMG, don’t know about PAL though.
i updated mine on saturday and it works fine ps galaxy is amazing

I own a CycloWiz on a NTSC Wii. I updated my System using Super Mario Galaxy and to 3.1e online previous to that.
And my Wii works perfectly.
Please learn to post a link to your source before posting these kinds of posts, It makes me assume your just a CycloWiz hater trying to get people to dislike them.
Could it be maybe 1 or 2 wii’s with a chip suffered a random firmware death and so this was a kneejerk warning sent out just in case?

Brilliant… I’d just like to point out a couple of things…
1) PS3’s are in stock everywhere and wii’s are flying out as soon as they come in… coincidence? No. PS3
im getting a Wii. i already have a PS3/360.
Uuuurgh, i got 2x PSP’s, PS3, Xbox (Original & 360), Nintendo DS, Gamecube & Wii……out of all the childishness of them all theyd never compare to the bollox you just come out with.
Games are entertainment, if entertainments childish go an watch the news 24/7.
The last 2 comments obviously from people lacking enough coordination to manage toilet training, let alone the joy of the wii control system.

I have a PS3 an Xbox 360 and a Wii. The Ps3 and 360 are rarely used. I have my Wii working overtime. I get get far more use out of it. It has the best party type games of ANY console, current or not. I think that i have found something that will entertain me for a long time to come. PS3 good for Blu Ray, 360 was good for ST : Legacy and the Wii is good for everything else….. Except car games. then it is a poor second.
By the way i forgot to mention. Mine works with the update. Might just be how they installed it? i did mine via the net update. Where they disc updated? maybe therein lies the problem?
A mate of mine had a problem after updating his WiiKey. Turned out he’d installed 1.9b AFTER I’d installed 1.9g for him. One recovery disc and one 1.9g firmware update later, he’s all fine. Oh, and SMG works perfectly. PAL Wii, by the way.
i updated my wii and it works but if it only does it to the other visions and not the PAL vision then just get the PAL one

Got a Wiid and proceded with the updat in the USA and only SMG can’t work. “An unothorized modification has been detected” (or something like that)
i updated with mario galaxies and only that game does not work all other do…mhmmm ntsc console
So i have a european wii with a wiikey on it. no update of 1.9g so far. can i run that update coming with mario galaxy? yes or no…
Ben, if you have an offical Wiikey and you have
installed update 1.9b, install the 1.9g that is on the
net and that will get mario galaxy working. i updated the offical update that is on mario galaxy and that kicked my wiikey clone into touch. i installed an offical wiikey and did the firmware updates and it is working fine now.
I’m a cyclowys owner and i’ve updated my system firmware to 3.1e by internet and i dont have any problems!!
In cyclocys oficial website i havent found anything about this particulary update.
