Nintendo has released firmware version 3.1U, which, among other things, adds support for use of USB keyboards.
Full list of changes:
● USB keyboard compatibility
● Links you receive on the Wii Message Board can now be opened in Internet Channel
● You can now send web-links to friends for them to view
● You can now copy text from the page you’re viewing and paste it into a search engine
Be advised that updating your firmware with any mod chips installed may brick your system.

Can you use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse with the wii?

beside internet, how can i install this fw, my internet doesnt work on wii i dunno why, router works but the wii doesnt. im thinking it was a bad firmware cuz after the firmware update, it stopped. also anyone noe if it bricks modded wiis.

i couldn’t have bricked it. i installed the chip after it stop working. beside, the internet works now after i configured the router(needed to turn off stp security or something) n added my mac address.com

i just updated to 3.1u firmware and my 1.3 setup disk is dead !!! anyone opinion ???
You need a gcos boot disc. Search for a boot disc for gcos on your download/torrent site.

Any cyclowiz guys can confirm non bricking like the wiikey guys. They should both work after 3.1 but i’d love to hear good news from a cyclowiz updater too.

Something should be done. It’s just so annoying. I come here everyday and all I’ve seen for like a month now is just some more Trackbacks…Nothing to do with Wii at all. And why aren’t people doing anything with the Wii? I mean besides playing games, have you run out of ideas? I still want to port the Dreamcast games to the Wii…Is it possible? Or would it involve a different chip than what is out there? Can’t someone make a bootdisc or a DC OS for Wii? There’s an idea…Seriously, something needs to happen with the Wii…
Well, I know LiquidIce has been working mainly on his iPhone and iTv. As far as others go, I have no idea.
I’m as frustrated as you, but there’s really not much progress to be made until someone finds a way to manipulate the firmware like on PSP. Right now, the most that can be done is create more software that simply communicates with the firmware rather than the hardware itself.
I have another idea. I think if I could get my pc to read the wii through usb, I could check the hidden files and folders…Hmm…But no drivers…
Noobwii, would you mind giving me your email address? Maybe you and I could hack and help each other out. You seem to have some good ideas, and I bet if we worked together, we could make some breakthroughs.
